Build-your-own show

With the 2025 design aesthetic billed as ‘1980s themes embracing a contemporary twist’ and a host of leading property experts on hand to share advice and inspiration, the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show returns to the NEC, Birmingham from Thursday, 20 to Sunday, 23 March.

The show’s Masterclass and Seminar Theatres will feature an impressive roll-call of speakers on topics ranging from ‘The top 10 self-build mistakes and how to avoid them’ and ‘Ideas for adding space without extending’ to ‘Landscape design: a beginners’ guide to creating your dream garden from scratch’. Energy efficiency and sustainability will also be high on the agenda.

The Advice Centre will house the biggest ever line-up of property specialists under one roof, offering free 15-minute one-to-one sessions to address visitors’ questions about their renovation, extension, home improvement and property projects – and over 380 exhibitors will be showcasing their latest products and services.

One-day tickets to the show cost £18, and doors will be open from 10am to 5pm on 20, 21 and 22 March and 10am to 4.30pm on 23 March.

Total protection for outdoor wood

Prepare, preserve and protect your garden wood with the Roxil Wood Furniture and Shed Total Protection Bundle (RRP £103.99), which is perfect for refreshing and upcyling tired garden furniture, fences and decking. This three-step, long-lasting wood treatment will waterproof your exterior wood and protect it from weathering and decay.

First apply Roxil Wood Scrub Gel, designed to scrub away greying and revive the natural appearance of weathered softwoods. This oxalic acid-based gel cleaner effectively removes greyed patina and dirt. The gel formulation ensures easy and accurate application.

Follow up with Roxil Wood Preserver, a high-performance clear wood preservative that provides a robust barrier against wood-rotting fungi and wood-boring beetles. Its water-based, solvent-free formulation allows for deep penetration.

Finish with Roxil Wood Protection Cream, which creates a durable, waterproof barrier that reduces water uptake, mould growth and warping. A single coat of this wood sealer offers long-term protection.
