#ArundelCastle in West Sussex has enjoyed another successful open season, welcoming close to 160,000 visitors through its gates during 2014 – almost a two per cent increase on 2013.
The Normans and Crusaders event held across the Easter weekend proved to be a triumph, recording a significant 25% increase in visitors, compared to the same weekend in 2013.
Open to visitors for more than 200 years, Arundel Castle continues to attract a steady stream of guests with its compelling events calendar and 40 acres of stunning grounds and gardens, as well as the Castle itself.
According to the 2014 Arundel Castle visitor survey, a massive 99% of this year’s visitors said that they would recommend a visit to Arundel Castle to their family and friends. Moreover, two thirds of respondents stated that there was ‘nothing to improve’ on their visitor experience of Arundel Castle.
In a leap of popularity this year, Arundel Castle’s acclaimed gardens proved to be visitors’ favourite, with a third of people naming the gardens as ‘most enjoyable’ element of their Castle experience.
Castle manager Bryan McDonald commented: “We are delighted to have welcomed and entertained so many visitors this year – both first time visitors and returning guests.
“To receive such complimentary feedback is testament to the hard work of our conservation teams behind the scenes, our outstanding gardeners and our excellent guides, all of whom work tirelessly to create a memorable experience for everyone visiting the castle.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have visited and supported Arundel Castle this year, and we look forward to another good year in 2015.”
Arundel Castle will reopen to visitors on March 28, 2015. For more information, visit www.arundelcastle.org
