Nothing, apparently, will deter British determination to get out into the garden now that it’s Bank Holiday season
A survey of 2,000 people by cleaning technology specialists Kärcher has found that over 80% will persevere with barbecue plans regardless of bad weather – and that 60% believe that rain during a barbecue just gives you a better story to tell. Even Storm Katie would struggle to stop them, allegedly, with one in 10 claiming they’d continue despite 96mph winds or hailstones the size of golf balls.
Kärcher is, however, less impressed by what the survey revealed about British attitudes to barbecue cleanliness. Almost half of people said they just scrubbed the fat off with their tongs or let the flames burn it away – and 3% admitted to letting their dog or cat lick the barbecue clean. Kärcher’s recommendation, as you might perhaps expect, is to employ a pressure washer rather than the family pet.
