December issue out now!

It’s hardly possible to believe, but the Kitchen Garden December issue is on sale now! You won’t find it awash with festive features… nevertheless, there are some great ideas for Christmas gifts and even some warming winter dishes to try.

Steve has safely gathered in his harvest.

KG editor Steve Ott says: “Now that the harvests are gathered and stored safely away we move into the winter season and planting and planning for the year – or in the case of fruit – years ahead.

“I love trawling through the catalogues and gardening websites to see what I can find – I bet you are the same. Three or four years ago I planted a greengage and it produced its first decent crop this summer. They were so delicious that I’m determined to plant another and there is no better time.

“When I find the space I’ll be sure to follow advice from fruit expert David Patch to give my new tree the best possible start.

“Through the winter (and Covid permitting of course) there will be seed swaps and potato days to visit where you can buy or barter supplies for 2022. But if you don’t have a local event and are thinking of setting one up, check out our feature from an old hand, Colin Hynson, for some timely advice.

“Talking of potatoes, in this issue KG regular Rob Smith reveals his favourite varieties to provide a long season of cropping and don’t miss a great feature on growing tomatoes from veg growing legend Gerald Stratford.”

If you have a friend or relative who’s got into gardening, especially since lockdown, and who you’re struggling to buy a Christmas present for… well, what could be better than a subscription to Kitchen Garden magazine? Every issue is packed with useful features, plenty of fantastic ideas, delicious recipes and giveaways… and we have a lot of fun too!
