Easton Walled Gardens joins race for giant marrow

Gorgeous Grantham garden competes for the prize

I thought I’d send you an update on the marrows in the gardens.

Our outdoor sown courgette took a week longer to germinate than our indoor sown, but didn’t have to cope with becoming re-established in the veg bed. It has grown larger and fruited before the indoor sown plants, all plants are now producing fruit, but the outdoor sown was first cropped about a week ago.

The attached pictures were taken on the 4th and 7th July with the outdoor sown plant in the foreground. It isn’t a perspective thing, it really is bigger.
