Potato growing trial: which way wins?

Emma plants first early potatoes ‘Arran Pilot’ three different ways. One was placing tubers straight on top of the soil and covering with just grass cuttings. The second was planting the tubers on top of the soil and covering with a mixture of well-rotted horse manure and grass cuttings. The third was the traditional way of planting tubers fairly deeply and not covering with anything other than soil.
